ISBN: 978-8808-18072-8

The main objective of this book is to provide engineering students with the basic concepts of hydraulics from both a theoretical and an application point of view, as it is undoubtedly necessary for an engineer.

The book presents a mathematical treatment of the various problems of hydraulics, always followed by many applications and exercises (many of which are solved), and is divided into five sections: basic principles; hydrostatics, kinematics and dynamics of fluids; dimensional analysis and similarity; steady and unsteady flows in pipes; uniform and gradually varied flows in channels.

The theorem demonstrations and the exercises are developed using a large number of figures and educational facilities.

Along with innovative learning tools and a new way of topic presentation, that authors wanted to preserve some typical approaches of the classical hydraulics of the Italian engineering courses, generally appreciated also at the international level.

Even if particularly addressed to university students, the text is a valuable tool for professional engineers, geologists, and for all those need to know the laws and applications of hydraulics in their job.

The book is presented in a mixed form (paper + online material); Appendices C and D, interactive exercises in Computable Document Format (CDF) format and other multimedia contents are available online at web address fisica.testtube.it.

The book was a finalist of the First National University Publishing Award (year 2016) of the Italian Association of the Book (see the attached pdf files).
