Pressure distributions in a non-inertial reference frame

16

The video showcases one of the educational activities from the Environmental Hydraulics course within the Civil and Environmental Engineering degree program at the Polytechnic University of Bari.
It presents several hydraulic experiments focusing on pressure. Specifically, it demonstrates that a tank dropped in a vacuum exhibits a constant pressure distribution along the vertical direction, with the pressure everywhere equal to atmospheric pressure. This balance between the internal and external pressures—both equal to atmospheric pressure—prevents the liquid from escaping the tank during free fall.
For more details, refer to Chapter 2 (in particular, paragraph 2.13 on relative equilibrium) of the textbook: Mossa M. and Patrillo A.F., "Idraulica", CEA, Milan, 2nd edition, 2024.
